Rectangle vs Tegaro

Tegaro is better if display controls are the goal. Rectangle is stronger for window snapping.

Rectangle arranges your windows. Tegaro looks after your displays, with brightness, resolution and a Dock on every screen, and adds clipboard, screenshots and more.

Tegaro and Rectangle help with different parts of using a Mac screen, and you can run both. Rectangle is a window manager: it snaps windows into halves, thirds and quarters with keyboard shortcuts or by dragging to the screen edge. Tegaro does not move windows. Its Displays tool sets brightness, switches the resolution of each connected display, and can show a copy of your Dock on every screen. Tegaro adds eight more tools (Dictation, Screenshots, Clipboard, Layout, Power, Critter, AI usage limits and Disk) in one menu-bar icon.

Privacy and footprint

Tegaro runs its core typing, clipboard and downloaded-model dictation workflows locally. AI usage may query Claude or Codex providers using existing authentication; licensing checks, downloads, updates and opted-in email have separate network behaviour. Review each product’s privacy documentation for the feature you use.

Native macOS app built with Swift.

Core typing, copied-content and downloaded-model dictation workflows stay local. Licensing, optional renewal lookups, model downloads, opted-in diagnostics and direct AI-provider checks are separate network actions. AI Usage uses existing provider sign-in and does not send provider credentials to Tegaro.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Tegaro and Rectangle together on Mac?

Yes. They do different jobs. Use Rectangle to arrange windows and Tegaro for display brightness and resolution, a Dock on every screen, clipboard history, screenshots, dictation and other tools.

Does Tegaro include window snapping like Rectangle?

No. Tegaro does not move or resize windows. Keep Rectangle if you rely on window snapping.

Can Tegaro show the Dock on every screen?

Yes. By default macOS shows the Dock on one screen at a time. The Displays tool can show a copy of your real Dock on every screen, with the same apps, order, folders and Trash. You choose the edge, reserved space, auto-hide, icon size and magnification.
