PopClip vs Tegaro
Tegaro is better if layout correction and related utilities matter. PopClip is stronger for selected-text extensions.
Both help you work with text on a Mac. PopClip shows a popup menu when you select text. Tegaro fixes wrong-layout typing and puts clipboard and screenshot tools in one menu-bar icon.

Tegaro and PopClip both help with text on macOS, but they work differently. PopClip shows a small popup menu above text you select, with actions such as copy, search and others added through extensions. Tegaro has no popup menu. Its Layout tool fixes text typed in the wrong keyboard layout (for example "ghbdtn" instead of "привет", English and Russian) when you press Space or a hotkey. Tegaro also has Clipboard, Screenshots that can read text from the screen, and six more tools in one menu-bar icon.
Shift controls EN/RU
Typing supports the documented layout-switch workflow.
Undo and app exceptions
The module supports correction reversal and app-level exceptions.
Other tools included
Typing sits beside capture, clipboard and power modules.

Privacy and footprint
Tegaro runs its core typing, clipboard and downloaded-model dictation workflows locally. AI usage may query Claude or Codex providers using existing authentication; licensing checks, downloads, updates and opted-in email have separate network behaviour. Review each product’s privacy documentation for the feature you use.
Native macOS app built with Swift.
Core typing, copied-content and downloaded-model dictation workflows stay local. Licensing, optional renewal lookups, model downloads, opted-in diagnostics and direct AI-provider checks are separate network actions. AI Usage uses existing provider sign-in and does not send provider credentials to Tegaro.
One isolated Shift tap switches EN/RU; double Shift attempts a safe last-word repair and triple Shift undoes or blocks a pair. Each gesture can be disabled; without a safe candidate, double Shift only switches layout.
How to Switch from PopClip to Tegaro
- Install Tegaro and allow the macOS permissions it asks for when you turn on a tool.
- Set up the Layout tool and its hotkey, then try it on some text typed in the wrong layout.
- Use Screenshots to read text from images or other text you cannot select.
- Keep PopClip if you rely on its popup actions; quit it if you prefer working with shortcuts.
