Magnet vs Tegaro
Tegaro is better if you want display tools in a wider suite. Magnet is stronger for window snapping.
Both apps help you work on a Mac desktop. Here is how Magnet's window snapping compares with Tegaro's display tools, including a Dock on every screen, and the rest of its menu-bar toolkit.

Magnet and Tegaro do different jobs. Magnet snaps windows into halves, thirds and quarters with hotkeys or by dragging to a screen edge. Tegaro does not tile windows. Its Displays tool sets brightness and resolution for each display and can show a copy of your Dock on every screen. It puts ten tools in one menu-bar icon, including a clipboard history, screenshots, dictation and Power for battery details.
Free daily display controls
Displays keeps normal brightness and resolution controls available after the trial.
Dock on every screen
An optional Dock mirror can sit on a selected connected display.

Privacy and footprint
Tegaro runs its core typing, clipboard and downloaded-model dictation workflows locally. AI usage may query Claude or Codex providers using existing authentication; licensing checks, downloads, updates and opted-in email have separate network behaviour. Review each product’s privacy documentation for the feature you use.
Native macOS app built with Swift.
Core typing, copied-content and downloaded-model dictation workflows stay local. Licensing, optional renewal lookups, model downloads, opted-in diagnostics and direct AI-provider checks are separate network actions. AI Usage uses existing provider sign-in and does not send provider credentials to Tegaro.
How to Switch from Magnet to Tegaro
- Install Tegaro next to Magnet. They do different jobs and do not get in each other's way.
- Open the Displays tool in Tegaro, set brightness and resolution for your monitors, and turn on the Dock on every screen.
- Turn on the other Tegaro tools you want, such as Clipboard or Screenshots.
- Keep Magnet for window snapping, or try the window tiling built into recent macOS versions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Tegaro and Magnet together on Mac?
Yes. Magnet arranges your windows. Tegaro handles display brightness and resolution, a Dock on every screen, clipboard history, screenshots, dictation and the other tools in its menu.
Does macOS 15 Sequoia replace Magnet and Tegaro?
macOS 15 added basic window tiling (halves and quarters), but not the thirds and sixths Magnet offers for ultrawide screens. It does not add the other tools Tegaro offers.
Can Magnet control external monitor brightness?
No. Magnet only moves and resizes windows. Tegaro's Displays tool changes the brightness of external monitors, switches the resolution of each connected display and can show your Dock on every screen.
